In our life

1. In our life, in all we do and say
There's the tree of life for us to eat each day
signifying God as life
Simple, pure and free from strife,
To be taken in as nourishment divine.

We cannot outgrow our need to eat;
For this living tree with fruit abundant, sweet
Meets our largest, smallest need,
Even is our life indeed;
We depend upon its life exclusively.

How we depend for our living
On the life-tree, always giving
God as life to us in each and everything;
We will eat every day
Till this life-tree has a way
To become our life in all we do and say

2. But there is another tree to see;
Called the tree of knowledge, Satan's subtlety.
If we eat this tree, this lie,
We'll know right and wrong, yet die;
For this tree will feed our critcizing mind.

Thus we need to turn away our heart,
From the tree of good and evil to depart;
Nevermore entangled there;
Flee unto the life-tree where
Right and wrong does not become our great concern

Lord, we'll just eat the life-tree
And become so free and happy
There enjoying You as life abundantly.
Thank You, Lord, for the way
To live by Your life today
Eating of the tree of life forevermore
